A youth, 14, appeared in Brent youth court yesterday accused of raping a girl, 11, in an alleyway in Cricklewood, north-west London, last Sunday. He was also accused of the attempted robbery of another girl, 11, in Harlesden, north- west London, on 4 May.

The boy, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was remanded to a secure unit until 23 June.
