A 12-year-old boy living in a children's home recently criticised by social services inspectors has been found hanged in a public lavatory. William McGovern lived at Bellshill children's home near Glasgow. Police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
The boy was found in a cubicle in a lavatory at Wishaw, Strathclyde, on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital. An inquiry has been started by Strathclyde social work department, which said the boy had not been in care for long and was there with the agreement of his father.
