Three boys aged 14, 15 and 16 caught throwing stones at lorries and coaches on the M4 in Berkshire said they hurled the missiles because they were bored, a court was told yesterday.

Windscreens on two lorries and a window in a double decker bus were smashed as the trio targeted vehicles from a bridge on 15 occasions, causing pounds 4,000 damage, a Newbury youth court was told. A bus passenger was treated for shock but nobody was seriously hurt.

The boys, who admitted criminal damage and causing danger to road users, were each given 12- month supervision orders.
