THE BRITANNIA Building Society yesterday blamed the poor state of the housing market for its decision to cut 200 jobs. Most of the redundancies will be at its headquarters in Leek, Staffordshire, but 60 jobs will go in 10 branch closures on 10 November. The branches to close have not been named. Voluntary redundancy is being offered.
