THE BODY of a middle-aged canoeist was recovered from the sea yesterday at Trearddur Bay, North Wales, after it was spotted by an RAF Wessex rescue helicopter on routine patrol. A police spokesman said the identity of the dead man, thought to be in his 50s, would not be released until relatives had been informed.
Coastguards at nearby Holyhead said sea conditions were very rough but it was not unusual for canoeists to go out in such conditions.
