Norman Hutchison will never again try to thaw out his car radiator with a gas burner. Mr Hutchison, a 42-year-old father of two, left his Ford Orion 3ft from the burner and went into his house in Wallsend, Tyne and Wear, to keep warm. The car blew up, setting his garage on fire. He said later: 'It was pretty daft.'
