A caravan fire has killed three people, believed to be two children and an adult, who were declared dead at The Plantation mobile home site in the early hours of this morning.

A man and another child were also treated for burns at the scene before being taken to East Surrey Hospital following the blaze that broke out at the grounds in West Park Road in Newchapel, Surrey.

Emergency services were called at around 1.37am and three fire crews put out the flames with hose reels. Police and paramedics were also at the scene to carry out investigations and medical care.

Surrey Police said: “Surrey Police and Surrey Fire and Rescue units are currently at the scene, which remains cordoned off while inquiries to establish the circumstances surrounding the fire continue.”

A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends involved at this tragic time.”
