Three men who tortured a cat then burnt it alive were given custodial sentences. All came from the Graig-y-Rhacca estate, Machen, Mid Glamorgan. Gwyn Richards, 21, was jailed for five months. Adam Richards and Darren Chapman, both 18, were given five months' youth custody. Two boys aged 15 and 16 will be sentenced later. All denied wilfully causing the cat unnecessary suffering.
