Cathedral listed

Liverpool's Roman Catholic Cathedral is to be listed as a Grade II* building. The 1960s cathedral is also a major beneficiary ( pounds 1.5m) of pounds 4m worth of English Heritage grants to 43 cathedrals. Other beneficiaries include: Salisbury ( pounds 500,000), Ely ( pounds 250,000), Lincoln ( pounds 225,000), Gloucester ( pounds 224,000), Sheffield RC ( pounds 70,000), Newcastle upon Tyne ( pounds 25,000) and Southwark ( pounds 20,000).
