An inquiry was under way yesterday as 10 children were treated for burns after being hit by fireworks during a display at Aintree racecourse, Liverpool.

They were taken to the city's Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where one, an eight-year-old girl who received 4 per cent burns to her chest and arms, was detained in the burns unit.
