Michael Palmer, 46, a Navy cook at Windsor Castle, was jailed for 18 months for claiming pounds 18,000 in lodging expenses while living at home. Because he was living with his family in Portsmouth and commuting 130 miles a day, he would have gained more if he had claimed his travel allowance, a court martial in Portsmouth was told.
