A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murdering a teenager in Milton Keynes on Saturday, Thames Valley Police said.

The force confirmed that a 17-year-old boy died in hospital from chest injuries, following an altercation in Tyburn Avenue at around 6.40pm.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support.

Chief Inspector Kelly Gardner, who is the town’s deputy local area commander, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the family and friends of the boy who has lost his life.”

Ms Garden added that there would be “an increased police presence” in the area for the next week while an investigation takes place.

Stuart Blaik, a senior investigating officer with the major crime unit, said his team was “working to establish the circumstances of this incident in which a boy has tragically died”.

DCI Blaik appealed to members of the public to help with their enquiries, asking anyone who was in the area between 6.25pm and 6.40pm and has information to contact the police.

Drivers should check footage recorded on their dash-cams, while anyone with CCTV in the local area should have a look at their recordings, DCI Blaik added.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting the reference number 43200364814. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
