Detectives are searching for a man who caught a ferry to France minutes before his girlfriend was found strangled. Toby Norris, 23, took a P&O ferry from Dover to Calais at 4.45pm on Saturday, 15 minutes before Tina Moore was found dead at the home the couple shared in Uttoxeter, Staffordshire.

Ms Moore, 30, was a supermarket worker with an eight-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. Her children had been staying with their grandparents the night before her body was discovered.

Staffordshire detectives are studying security camera footage in Dover in an attempt to trace Mr Norris's footsteps. The French authorities and Interpol are also involved.

Mr Norris, who moved to Staffordshire from Oxford about 12 months ago, was last seen at 11.30pm on Friday in Uttoxeter town centre with Ms Moore and friends.

Detective Chief Inspector Jonathan Drake, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are anxious to speak to Toby as soon as possible and would appeal for him to contact us." Mr Norris, who is white and and about 5ft 10ins with brown hair and blue eyes, boarded the ferry in a silver-grey Volkswagen Golf.
