Businessman remanded over missing wife's murder
A businessman was remanded in custody today charged with murdering his wife, who disappeared nine years ago.
Maureen Hale, 42, who lived in Thames Ditton, south west London, vanished in June 1999. Her body has not been found despite police searches.
Martin Hale, 51, of Thames Ditton, did not appear in court today but was remanded in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court, south London, under the jurisdiction of Kingston Crown Court.
Judge Charles Tilling granted an application for Hale to be remanded in custody until 31 January.
He will next appear at Kingston Crown Court on 26 January.
