A man has been charged with murdering two women whose bodies were found in a freezer in East London.

Zahid Younis, 35, was charged with two counts of murder after the women – Henriett Szucs, 34, and Mihrican Mustafa, 38 – were discovered in April by police on top of each other inside a chest freezer at a flat in Vandome Close, Canning Town.

Younis was also previously charged with two counts of preventing the lawful and decent burial of a dead body and appeared at Kingston Crown Court in May.

He will appear at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court for the two murder charges on 14 Feburary.

Ms Mustafa was a mother of three and was reported missing in 2018.

Ms Szucs, a Hungarian national, had not been in contact with her family or anyone she knew in Hungary since 2016, police said.

Detective chief inspector Simon Harding, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said at the time of the discovery: “The way in which they died is truly shocking and our heart goes out to these women’s friends and families.”
