Chohan case police arrest man in Belgium

Detectives investigating the killing of the millionaire Amarjit Chohan and his family have arrested one of his former employees in Belgium.

Police said yesterday that Kenneth Regan, 54, also known as Kenneth Avery, was arrested on Saturday and that extradition proceedings were expected to begin soon.

Mr Chohan, 46, from Heston, west London, was found floating by Bournemouth pier in April while his 25-year-old wife, Nancy, was discovered three months later in the sea off Poole Bay. The couple; their sons Ravinder, 19 months, and Devinder, four months; and Mrs Chohan's mother, Charanjit Kaur, 51, disappeared from their home in February.

Peter Rees, 38, from Rowland's Castle, Hampshire, has already been charged in with the murders of all five family members. He has also been charged with preventing Mr Chohan's burial.

Mr Regan, a lorry driver from Salisbury, had knownMr Chohan for eight years. Having once owned his own haulage firm, he went on to work for Mr Chohan's fruit and vegetable importing firm. Police had said that they were trying to trace Mr Regan and William Horncy, 51, alias Smith. The men were seen boarding a cross-Channel ferry at Dover in May.

A post-mortem examination showed that Mr Chohan had been strangled and buried in a field before being exhumed and dumped at sea. The boys and their grandmother have not been found.
