A 16-year-old girl and a woman have been arrested after cocaine worth around £350,000 was found hidden inside tubs of chocolate at Gatwick Airport.

The pair were detained by Border Force investigators at the West Sussex airport's South Terminal after they arrived on a flight from Antigua on Saturday.

Inside a suitcase was cocaine weighing around 7.7lb (3.5kg) which would have a street value of around £350,000 when cut, Border Force said.

The girl and the 39-year-old woman, both from the Walsall area of the West Midlands, were arrested in connection with the discovery and later freed on bail until June 8.

Ingrid Smith, Border Force assistant director for Gatwick's South Terminal, said investigators were on alert round the clock for Class A drugs and banned substances.
