A man has been charged with the murder of two women who were found dead outside a house in a West Sussex village days before Christmas, according to police.

Daniel Appleton was charged after being released from hospital on Friday, Sussex Police said.

He will appear in Crawley Magistrates' Court on Monday.

A murder investigation was launched after 76-year-old Sandy Seagrave and 32-year-old Amy Appleton were found dead outside a property in Crawley Down, a village in Sussex, on 22 December.

Police arrested a suspect who they found seriously injured inside the home on the same day.

They said he was known to Appleton.

Police were called to the quiet neighbourhood around 10.15am on the Sunday before Christmas.

Reports emerged that neighbours overheard someone shouting "I'm going to kill you" during an argument before police arrived.

Members of the public and paramedics tried to save two women found outside the property in Hazel Way, but the victims died at the scene, police said.

Mr Appleton has been charged with two counts of murder, according to Sussex Police.
