DJ Dave Lee Travis pleads not guilty to 15 sex charges

A trial, expected to last five to six weeks, has been scheduled for the start of next year

The former DJ Dave Lee Travis will stand trial in January accused of sex attacks on 10 women and a 15-year-old girl over a 32-year period.

Mr Travis, 68, denied 15 assaults when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court yesterday, some of which are alleged to have been carried out during his time presenting Top of the Pops.

The radio presenter (pictured) has consistently denied one sexual assault charge and 14 counts of indecent assault that date back to 1976, several years after he started working for the BBC.

The most recent claim relates to an alleged sexual assault against a woman five years ago.

Mr Travis – who was charged under his real name, David Griffin – was arrested in November last year by officers investigating the Jimmy Savile abuse scandal. He was first charged in August, but his case is not linked to Savile.

He was bailed on condition that he remains at his home in Mentmore, Bedfordshire, and does not contact the alleged victims.
