Essex Police are searching for the attackers of a man who was stabbed in the back in a park.

The incident happened early on Saturday evening, just before 6pm, at St George’s Park in Braintree.

The victim, who had to be airlifted to hospital in Cambridge, is in a serious but not life-threatening condition, police said.

Detectives believe the attack, in which the victim was stabbed in the back and hip, may have been targeted.

Witness statements have led them to think the incident may have been perpetrated by two youths.

The park and surrounding area were forensically searched Saturday night and but now the cordons that were in place have been lifted.

Braintree CID has appealed for witnesses.

Essex Police can be contacted on 101 or Crimestoppers can be called anonymously on 0800 555 111.
