Police investigating the death of a teenager who fell from the seventh floor of a block of flats in east London released a CCTV image yesterday of a group of teenagers who may have been involved.

Ahmed Benyermak, 16, is believed to have been fleeing from youths when he fell 100ft on the Trelawney estate in Hackney on Wednesday. Police said he lost his grip while trying to climb down the outside of the 13-storey tower. The image shows five youths on bicycles leaving the estate shortly after the incident – another one was thought to have left his bicycle at the scene.

Ahmed's death is being investigated as an unlawful killing, said Detective Chief Inspector Ian Stephenson. "We believe this group was made up of six youths, some were wearing hooded tops, others were wearing bandanas, sometimes concealing their faces," he said.
