A man has been charged with the murder of a mother and her 11-year-old daughter in Gloucester.

Christopher Boon will appear in court on Thursday accused of killing 31-year-old Laura Mortimer and her child, Emma Dalby.

Police and paramedics were called to a terraced home in Dexter Way, on the outskirts of the city, at around 4.50pm on bank holiday Monday, following reports two people had been seriously injured.

However, the mother and daughter were pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

Mr Boon, 28, also of Dexter Way, will appear before magistrates in Cheltenham charged with two counts of murder.

Dozens of floral tributes have been left outside the property in tribute following the incident.

Ms Mortimer ran her own business, Sweet Beginnings, offering bespoke bridal gowns and wedding planning services.

A wedding photographer based in Gloucestershire, who did not wish to be named, paid tribute to the mother earlier this week.

“Laura was a lovely lady with a kind word for everyone,” the photographer said: “An inspiration to many people, not only personally but in the wedding industry too.

“She worked so hard to get where she did and was extremely well respected throughout Gloucestershire and beyond.”
