The hunt for a gunman who shot a man in a "targeted" attack is continuing, say police.

West Midlands Police said they have "identified a possible suspect" after a man in his 20s was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower arm after a shooting in Faseman Avenue in the Tile Hill area of Coventry.

The shooting, which happened just after 2pm yesterday, prompted armed police to contain a block of flats in the street with 20 people evacuated as a precaution.

Residents have now been allowed back into the flats, police said.

Detective Inspector Stuart Bell said: "The flats are no longer the focus of police attention and we have identified a possible suspect and concerted efforts are ongoing to bring that person into police custody.

"We understand this was a targeted shooting, not a random attack."

The injured man discharged himself from hospital last night following surgery, police said.
