A man who died in hospital after being detained by police has been named.

Rafal Delezuch died in Leicester Royal Infirmary after he was detained by officers in the city earlier this month.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission is investigating as the man had been detained by police at the time of his death, Leicestershire Police said.

Officers took the 26-year-old Polish national to hospital due to concerns for his welfare after he was detained near the junction of Glossop Street and Osmaston Road on August 15. He died later that day.

A post-mortem examination proved inconclusive and further tests are being carried out, a force spokesman said.

An inquest into the death was opened and adjourned at Leicester Coroner's Court yesterday.
