A pair of teenagers were stabbed to death in different parts of London within five hours of each other.

The first victim, a 15-year-old schoolboy, was found bleeding near a McDonald’s restaurant outside Stratford shopping centre, in east London at around 3:20pm on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators from London's Metropolitan Police believe he was knifed on a bus or shortly after he got off it.

He died at the scene shortly afterwards.

“The victim of this stabbing was a schoolboy with his whole life ahead of him. He had everything to live for," said Detective Chief Inspector Chris Soole who is leading the investigation into his death. “This was a senseless attack and we share the concern and alarm this murder will no doubt cause in the local community.”

A second 15-year-old boy was also taken to hospital with stab wounds, but police say his injuries are not life threatening.

A stop and search order is in place for the whole of the borough of Newham in relation to those stabbings.

Around five hours later, police found and 18-year-old man with stab wounds after they were called to out to Camberwell in the capital's southeast.

He was pronounced dead at the scene in an hour later.

Both of the victims are yet to be formally identified and a post-mortem examination will be held for both.

There have been no arrests in connection with either of the incidents and police enquiries continue.
