A 34-year-old man has been stabbed to death in south London, police said today.

Officers launched a murder inquiry after they found the man with stab wounds in a flat in Nevil House, Minet Road, Brixton, last night.

They were called to the scene at around 11pm by London Ambulance Service, who rushed the man to a nearby hospital where he died shortly after midnight.

A Met Police spokesman said officers believed they know the identity of the victim, but were awaiting formal identification and to inform his next of kin before they named him.

A post-mortem examination will take place today at Greenwich Mortuary.

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are leading the murder investigation, and the incident room can be contacted on 0208 721 4205.
