A man wanted in connection with the murder of a prostitute and the violent robbery of a second sex worker has been arrested in central London, police said today.

Robert Fraser was the suspect police said they wanted to question over the murder of Maria Duque-Tunjano, 48, who was found on Friday battered to death in a west London flat that she used for her work. She is believed to have been killed three days earlier.

Police linked the case with an attack on a woman in her 20s in Paddington ten days earlier. Police yesterday released CCTV images of Mr Fraser walking down a street in central London. He was arrested in Leicester Square last night and taken for questioning, Scotland Yard said.

A Scotland Yard statement said: "Police were appealing for assistance in locating Robert Richard Fraser following the murder of Maria Duque-Tunjano on Friday.

"He was arrested last night in the Leicester Square area and has been taken to a central London police station."
