A 30-year-old man appeared in court today charged with stabbing to death a father-of-three on the doorstep of his home.

Keith Hunt is accused of murdering his neighbour Barry Wilson, 29, who was knifed in the chest and neck outside his house in the Knowle West area of Bristol on Tuesday afternoon.

Dressed in a black T-shirt and jogging pants, he spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth during a 10-minute hearing at Bristol Magistrates Court.

Hunt, of Ilminster Avenue, Knowle, was remanded in custody and will next appear at Bristol Crown Court on June 9 for a preliminary hearing.

No plea was entered and no application for bail was made.

Mr Wilson, whose partner Maxine Prescott is pregnant with their fourth child, was attacked as he made his way home from a police-sponsored family fun day.

A post-mortem examination revealed he died after being stabbed twice, once in the back of the neck, with the second blow plunging straight through his heart. He was taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary where he was later pronounced dead.
