A 12-year-old has been arrested along with three teenagers on suspicion of murdering a man in Manchester.

Two of the teenagers are aged 16 and the other is 17.

All four of the youths remain in custody for questioning.

Police responded to reports that a man had been assaulted late on Wednesday evening on Warrington Street. Upon arrival, they found a man in his forties with serious injuries. He was taken to hospital and died upon arrival. He has not yet been formally identified.

Detective Inspector Kevin O’Regan from the Greater Manchester Police said: “This has been quite a fast-moving investigation and we have now made three further arrests bringing the total number of people we have in custody to four.

“Our investigation continues and I would urge anybody with information to please contact police, no matter how insignificant you think it may be.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 2541 or 27/07/16, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
