Murder hunt after woman found stabbed

Police launched a murder investigation today after a woman was found stabbed to death.

Officers were sent to an address in Harcourt Road, Bitterne, Southampton, Hampshire, at 11.08am where they found a woman lying unconscious.

Paramedics from South Central Ambulance attempted to resuscitate the woman but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detective Inspector Dave Smith, of Hampshire police, said: "We are urgently appealing to anyone living in the Harcourt Road area of Bitterne.

"Did you see or hear anything or anyone acting suspiciously before 11am this morning? If you have any information which could help us with this investigation, please contact police."

The house was sealed off by police as specialist investigators began a forensic examination of the scene.
