Newborn baby boy found dead at house in Shropshire

A newborn baby has been found dead at a house in Telford in Shropshire.

West Mercia Police said the boy’s body was found on Sunday and the cause of death had not yet been established.

The baby’s mother has been identified and is receiving medical attention and care while the investigation continues.

“This is a tragic set of circumstances and our priority at this stage is to ensure the medical needs of the mother are being met,” a spokesperson for West Mercia Police said.

“Investigations into the circumstances of the baby's death are continuing, the cause has yet to be determined.”

No arrests have been made.
