A nurse was arrested on suspicion of poisoning two colleagues at a hospital, it was revealed today.

Officers were called in to probe two alleged incidents involving pain relief drugs at Horsham Hospital in West Sussex - one in May and a second in July.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: "As a result, a 60-year-old Horsham woman has been arrested for allegedly administering poison with intent on injure, following allegations from two colleagues.

"She remains on police bail and has been suspended from work."

Sussex Police said there were no reports of similar incidents being uncovered during the investigation and no suggestion there was any risk of harm to patients or members of the public.

West Sussex Primary Care Trust said it had launched an external review alongside its joint investigation with Sussex Police.
