A man who plied a 15-year-old girl with drugs and alcohol before sexually abusing her at his flat, has been jailed for more than six years.

Jordan West met the teenager outside McDonalds in Oldham in May 2015, when she asked him for a lighter.

After the pair struck up a conversation, the 27-year-old invited his victim and her friend back to his friend’s flat.

There he plied them with drugs and alcohol before going on to sexually abuse the 15-year-old.

Greater Manchester Police said his grooming abuse continued over the following month until he told her not to come back.

“Jordan West knew full well how old his victim was and that what he was doing was wrong, yet he continued his campaign of abuse without showing a shred of remorse,” said detective constable Diana Dyer-Barron.

“His abuse dominated a period of time in this girl’s life, preventing her from enjoying activities that any 15-year-old girl should be able to participate in. This had a massive impact on her life at a time when she was at a vulnerable age and still developing as a person.

“I would like to pay tribute to her for having the courage to come forward to report West to police and for the bravery she has shown giving evidence during the trial. I hope this result has repaid the trust she placed in the authorities and provides her with some feeling of justice.”

West was found guilty of three counts of sexual activity with a child and one count of supplying cannabis at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court.

He was sentenced earlier today, 30 November 2017, at to six years and three months in prison.

He also received a five-year sexual harm prevention order and will remain on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.
