Detectives have launched a murder probe after two pensioners were found dead in their west London home.

The pair were found in a flat in Appleford Road, Kensington, on Thursday morning.

A man in his 40s has been arrested by Surrey Police on suspicion of murder, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.

The Met said its partner force had raised the alarm after being contacted by a man known to both victims.

The man was arrested in Surrey and will be brought to London for questioning.

Officers went to the flat in Adair Tower at 6.40am and discovered the bodies of a man and a woman in their late 60s.

The home is still cordoned off, the Met said.

Detectives asked anyone with information to call them on 101 quoting reference number 5609638/19, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
