One man has died and another has been arrested following an attack which saw a man scaling the roof of a pub on Anglesey, according to police.

Police are now appealing for witnesses after they were called to the Blossoms Pub in Holyhead in the Holborn Road area at around 2pm, in response to reports that a man, 24, had assaulted another man, 46.

A Wales Ambulance spokesman said it was called at 4:10pm and sent a crew to the scene.

Emergency crews tried to revive the injured man but he died, said North Wales Police.

The man in his twenties then moved onto another roof near the Holland Inn, and was arrested following negotiations with police.

He is now being held in police custody, and police have since launched an investigation.

Supt Andy Jenks-Gilbert said: “I would like to take this opportunity to reassure the public that there is no danger to local residents.”

During the incident, police officers advised the public to avoid the Holborn Road area and told businesses to close during the incident, and much of town centre was sealed off.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101 or alternatively individuals can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
