Policeman jailed for punching child
A policeman was today jailed for 12 weeks for punching a boy in the face.
Pc Daniel Gaffney, 30, hit the 12-year-old boy so hard that a custody sergeant thought the boy's nose was broken judging by the amount of blood in the cell.
Gaffney, who had worked for Greater Manchester Police for nearly seven years, was sentenced by deputy district judge Timothy Gascoigne at Halton Magistrates' Court in Cheshire.
