Radio 2's Jeremy Vine reports stalker to police

Police are investigating complaints made by BBC presenter Jeremy Vine that he was the victim of a stalker.

The Radio 2 star told the Daily Mail that he has been repeatedly followed by a woman named as Alida O'Reilly.

He made an official complaint to police last month.

O'Reilly was due to appear at Kingston Magistrates' Court in south west London today to be sentenced for harassing presenters from Radio Jackie.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "Officers from Westminster received an allegation from a man aged in his forties. The allegation was made on August 11."

O'Reilly has not yet been charged in relation to Mr Vine's complaints.

Vine told the paper that O'Reilly, 28, from Earlsfield, south west London, followed him on numerous occasions over the last few months.

He said she regularly walked behind him as he made his way to a nearby Tube station after finishing work at the Radio 2 studios.

O'Reilly was previously found guilty of conducting a five-month campaign of harassment against two presenters from Radio Jackie, Steve Mowbray and Dave Owen.

O'Reilly bombarded the station with calls, text messages and emails and posted abusive information about Radio Jackie and the two presenters on websites.

She even created a spoof internet site to vent her anger at the station, the court heard.

The offences against Mowbray and Owen took place between August and November last year.

O'Reilly's sentencing was adjourned today without her or either legal team appearing in court.

The case was adjourned to Kingston Magistrates' Court on October 11.
