Sheffield United defender Connor Brown has been suspended by the club for comments he made on Twitter following teammate Ched Evans's jail sentence for rape.

The reserve-team player responded to Evans's five-year prison sentence by tweeting comments in relation to the case and his support for his teammate.

A complaint about the 19-year-old's tweets was made to North Wales Police by a leading rape charity, and Sheffield United said they were investigating.

Meanwhile, North Wales Police said they were collating website posts illegally naming the rape victim, and would deal "robustly" with social media users who did so.
