Reading attack suspect Khairi Saadallah appears in court charged with murdering three victims

Suspect, 25, has been charged with three counts of murder and three of attempted murder

The man accused of murdering three people in an alleged terror attack in Reading has appeared in court.

Khairi Saadallah, 25, confirmed his name, date of birth and his nationality as Libyan during a short hearing on Wednesday morning.

He appeared at London’s Old Bailey by video-link from HMP Belmarsh.

Mr Saadallah is alleged to have launched a two-minute attack in Forbury Gardens, Reading, shortly before 7pm on Saturday June 20.

Friends James Furlong, 36, David Wails, 49, and Joseph Ritchie-Bennett, 39, all died at the scene.

Their friend, Stephen Young, was injured alongside two men — Patrick Edwards and Nishit Nisudan — who were sat in a nearby group. They have since been discharged from hospital.

Mr Saadallah is charged with three counts of murder and three counts of manslaughter.

He was remanded in custody ahead of a preliminary hearing at the Old Bailey in the court’s terror list on 10 July.
