A police family liaison officer who supported the parents of Jessica Chapman during the investigation of her murder has been arrested on suspicion of child pornography offences.

A second policeman who worked on the hunt for the abductor of Jessica and Holly Wells has also been arrested.

Cambridgeshire Police stressed that the alleged pornography offences were not connected with the murder investigation. Detective Constable Brian Stevens, who was arrested at home yesterday morning, was the family liaison officer who told Jessica's parents that their daughter's body had been found. He read out a poem at the memorial service for the 10-year-olds at Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire.

The two officers are being held in custody and questioned in connection with a worldwide operation against internet child pornography. They are accused of inciting others to distribute indecent photographs of children.
