Four people have suffered serious injuries following a knife attack outside a pub in Plymouth.

Devon and Cornwall Police said officers were called to reports of multiple stabbings near the Railway Inn pub at around 10pm on Saturday.

“Police units attended and found four people having sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries,” a spokesperson said. “All have been taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment.”

The suspect had fled the scene when officers arrived and was not found during a house search by armed police, in the Beacon Park area of Plymouth.

Officers later stopped a 50-year-old man in a vehicle on the outskirts of Ide in Exeter, almost 40 miles away from the pub.

“The suspect has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, but has initially been taken to the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital,” a spokesperson said.

Albert Road has been sealed off and a police cordon remains in place.

Enquiries continue and anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101.
