Police have charged three men with the murder of a 23-year-old student who was found stabbed in a north London street.

Jemal Ebrahim was found heavily wounded in Russell Road, Tottenham, on the evening of 13 May.

He was taken to hospital but died of a knife wound to the leg. His family are being supported by specially trained officers.

During previous appeals for information, detectives said they believed he was chased by a group of men armed with large knives before being attacked in an alleyway.

On Monday night the Metropolitan Police announced Tyreese Annon, 19, from Camden, Abdul Gaffer, 24, from Hackney, and Mizuki Brown, 24, from Islington, were all charged with murder.

They will appear at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

Six other men arrested in connection with the case remain on bail.

Last month Jemal’s younger sister Nema Ebrahim paid tribute to her brother in a statement as “one of a kind” and ”a pure hearted spiritual soul, who was friendly to anyone he meets.”

He had recently begun his studies at the Zhengzhou University School of Business after completing a one year course learning Chinese.

“Not a lot knew that he could fluently speak the language but as a family we did and he would always make us laugh when doing so,” Ms Ebrahim added.

“Jay had big dreams and ambitions to build a whole life outside the city and was not involved in any drama, he just wanted a peaceful loving life.

“He was an innocent soul forever laughing and making sure that the ones around him were doing well. We’re heartbroken as a family and we will have closure once justice is served.”
