Two-year-old girl in hospital after dog attack
A two-year-old girl was in hospital today after being attacked at her home by a family dog, police said.
Officers were called to an address in Eltham, south-east London, at 1.30pm yesterday.
The girl's father intervened and killed the dog - believed to be a French Bullmastiff - with a knife.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said the girl was in a stable condition after suffering facial injuries.
An investigation has been launched but the spokesman said no arrests had been made.
The dog, which was not a banned breed, was killed at the scene.
The police spokesman said the family's two other dogs had been seized.
