Reported gunman on loose in Walsall as public urged to stay away
Walsall Police working to identify man as officers ‘trawling CCTV footage’ and set out public appeal
Police are hunting for a man after reports he was waving a gun inside a church in Walsall, West Midlands.
“Armed officers and the police helicopter attended and searched the area but the man has not yet been found,” police said.
Walsall Police said in a tweet: “We need to urgently identify this man after we were called to reports of a man waving a gun inside St Paul’s Church in Darwall Street, Walsall, at about 9.40am.
“Our enquiries continue and officers are trawling CCTV footage from the area. If you see him, do not approach him but ring 999.”
The suspect is pictured wearing a dark-coloured suit with a bag slung over the front of his chest.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the force by calling 101 and quoting the log number 1039 as of 10 September or to get in touch through Live Chat.
