Walworth police stabbing: Man remanded in custody over attempted murder of two Metropolitan police officers

A 20-year-old man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the attempted murder of two police officers.

Carlos Djau is accused of using a knife to attack the Metropolitan Police officers at his home on Cooks Road in Walworth, south east London, shortly after 8pm on Saturday.

A PC in his thirties was stabbed in the shoulder and head, and rushed to hospital. He has since been discharged.

The alleged incident occurred after police arrived on the scene following reports that an armed man had picked up a baby.

Djau appeared at Camberwell Magistrates' Court today.

District Judge Tim Stone remanded the defendant in custody until a hearing at Woolwich Crown Court on 16 March.
