A boy who suffered brain damage in a car accident six years ago could receive damages totalling pounds 21m under a structured settlement agreed in the High Court yesterday.

Curtess Shaw, nine, was hit by a car near his home in Bolton, Lancashire, and needs constant care. The court was told that the settlement, which would reach pounds 21m if he lives to 68, would provide a tax-free income for life.
