A verdict of misadventure was recorded yesterday on three joyriders who died when their stolen car crashed into a coach after going through a red traffic light.
Philip Hobbs, 16, who was driving, Carl Widdop, 20, and Lee Dunn, 14, all from Batley, West Yorkshire, were killed outright in the crash on New Year's Eve.
The inquest at Huddersfield was told that Hobbs had 25 convictions for motor offences, including one in which he had gone through a red light at more than 100mph. The coroner said: 'The question has to be asked how someone of 16 comes to be so out of control.'
Two teenagers were killed yesterday when the stolen car in which they were travelling crashed into a tree in Belfast.
