A MINISTRY of Defence official caught in a downward spiral of drink and gambling after a love affair pushed him into debt was yesterday jailed for two years for stealing more than pounds 23,000.
Dennis Fox, 37, of Crayford, Kent, who was in charge of a multi-million pound insurance budget, made out a series of bogus claims to solve his problems, Southwark Crown Court was told. He admitted six charges of obtaining property by deception.
Fox was caught after a routine check of one of the payments he had approved. He told police he was only borrowing the money.
