A consultant at Bury General Hospital, Don MacKechnie, has resigned from his pounds 51,000-a-year job in protest, he said, at the standard of treatment in the casualty unit. But the head of Bury Healthcare Trust, Philip Bacon, rejected any suggestion that the department was under-resourced.
