An 'animal VC' awarded to an Alsatian which flew with its master in a Second World War Wellington bomber and saved people buried in rubble sold for pounds 18,400 at Sotheby's. The Dickin Medal was bought by Gary Manley, a businessman and conservationist who intends to use it to raise money for the Born Free Foundation animal charity.
